Koala and Tong Hua: Lost You Forever (Chang Xiang Si/長相思)

I had no idea who Tong Hua was before Bu Bu Jing Xin ( 步步惊心 ). Even after Bu Bu Jing Xin I still have no particular feelings for her due to things that I don’t like in that story. But thanks to Koala who is being extremely generous and kind by translating Tong Hua’s works into English we who can’t read Chinese can also enjoy her books. Translating books is not an easy job to do. It requires something extra. A lot of extra in order not to lose the humors embedded in the language, the tone used in the original books/novels and the writing style of the writer. I don’t know how to properly express my gratitude to Koala but I’m in awe of the endeavour she takes and utterly grateful for her wonderful works. Thanks to her I can read Tong Hua’s books and found myself a new favorite writer. Now, you might also notice that Tong Hua seems to love tragic ending which is really not my cup of tea however when she writes about love, it is so beautifully written that you can’t help

Episode 10 Review of the Greatest Marriage (최고의 결혼)

I think this is the best episode so far. I ranted about Park Tae Yun and Hyun Myung Yi a lot in the previous episodes, both of whom I don’t even care. The fact that I have to talk so much about them only raises my blood pressure. It doesn’t bother me that they get more screen time than Cha Ki Young and Jo Eun Cha. But having to waste my time watching their outrageous behaviours make me realize that this is the reason why although I’m loving the Greatest Marriage this drama doesn’t make me happy. Thanks God that my misery is about to end. This episode is better than the previous ones because I don’t have to watch the appalling duo as much as before. I’m also pleased to see that each of them is going to pay for their respective deeds. I’ll consider being married to each other as a good enough punishment for them. Just like when I had no sympathy for Hyun Myung Yi when she lost her baby I also have no sympathy for Park Tae Yun when it finally dawns on him t

The Greatest Marriage (최고의 결혼): The Final Review

What should I say about the finale? Does it make me happy? Not really. Does it disappoint me? In a way it does. Why? First off, if I’m only using my normal standard in watching dramas, which is all about romance or to be specific, a happy ending between the OTP than I should be happy. Especially since two of the best scenes in the finale are the ‘romantic’ scenes between my favourite couples, which for your information do end up together. If you are like me and happen to think that the most important question you have for the show is ‘Does it end with a happy ending?’, the simple answer is yes it does. Then why am I still not happy? Why am I still disappointed? The problem is this show is not about romance. No matter how much I want it to be, it is not.
